MY JOURNEY

My journey started in Germany. I studied law and worked as In-house counsel for a bank. After migrating to Australia, I qualified as a Barrister.

In 2002, I completed my post-graduate studies in international commercial and sports arbitration and developed an interest in digital dispute resolution. In the same year, I also became a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb).

Soon after, I debuted as a mediation co-counsel for the State of Queensland and began advising parties, counsels and State and Federal governments in national, regional and international mediation, arbitration, and litigation matters.

In 2014, I took the position as Principal Lawyer and Attaché to the Secretary General of the Hague Conference on Private International Law (HCCH). I worked on the HCCH’s international commercial and financial law and civil procedure instruments. I also advised the Secretary General on the laws of international organisations.

Since 2020, I work as an independent and accredited mediator and arbitrator. My practice is as diverse and international as is my expertise.

Being a national of Australia and Germany, I am fully proficient in English and German and practice in both languages.

I undertook extensive online dispute resolution (ODR) training and am very skilled in conducting mediations and arbitrations online. I use a dedicated, secure and easy to use ODR platform (Modron Spaces) which I offer as a service to parties at no extra cost.

My expertise is well recognised. I am a member of several leading international mediation and arbitration panels.

Moreover, I lecture at graduate and master’s level, including courses in mediation, at the Sigmund Freud University in Vienna and I take pride in coaching mediation and arbitration teams at moot competitions.

I am a much-published author and regular speaker at webinars, seminars and conferences, always happy to share my experience and insights.

DISPUTE RESOLUTION
ARBITRATION

I am available to serve as a sole and panel arbitrator in international commercial, investor-state, art, cultural objects, travel and tourism, inheritance and estate, corporate, and sports disputes. I have two niche interests: disputes involving micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSME) and their specific dispute resolution needs, as well as commercial and employment disputes involving international organisations.

I am a member of leading arbitrator lists, including:

German Arbitration Institute (DIS) (GER).
Vienna International Arbitral Centre (VIAC) (AUT).
Swiss Arbitration Association (ASA) (CH).
ADR International Register (NL).
Belgian Centre for Arbitration and Mediation (CEPANI) (BEL).

Court of Arbitration for Art (CAfA) (NL);
Câmara de Arbitragem e Mediação de Santa Catarina (CAMESC) (BRZ);
International Arbitration Center – Chamber of Belgium and Luxembourg (CIABLP) (PER / LUX).
Geneva International Dispute Resolution Institute (GIDI) (CH).

DISPUTE RESOLUTION
MEDIATION

I mediate international and national commercial disputes between businesses, helping micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSME) to resolve their disagreements in a cost- and time-effective way. I also assist parties in finding sustainable and lasting solutions to resolve their investor-state, state-state, art, cultural objects, travel and tourism, inheritance and estate, corporate, sport, and certain (financial) family disputes. And I mediate commercial and employment disputes involving international organisations.

I am a member of leading mediator lists, including the:

German Arbitration Institute (DIS) (GER).
Vienna International Arbitral Centre (VIAC) (AUT).
Belgian Centre for Arbitration and Mediation (CEPANI) (BEL).
ADR International Register (NL).
ADR Group (UK).
Câmara de Arbitragem e Mediação de Santa Catarina (CAMESC) (BRZ).
Geneva International Dispute Resolution Institute (GIDI) (CH).
Belt and Road International Commercial Mediation Center (BRICMC) (PRC).
